2 sidewalls blowout, what should I do?

My mom called, she said she has 2 sidewall blowouts while on the road. Her car is a malibu 2020 and has 19' tires. Should I change it to a smaller one, like the 18' with better sidewall tires? May cost a lot but I think it is worth it for safety

as far as i know, the 2020 comes with 18 as the largest wheels, so you or whoever owned it before screwed things up by putting 19s. low profile tires don't like curbs, potholes and someone who doesn't care for them, so i'd go with 17 if you ask me, just in case

Yep switching to 18" wheels with higher-profiles can help. More sidewall just means better shock absorption. These blowouts might also be from underinflation or something too. Are the tires up to date? Just confirm the new wheel size is compatible with the car. :)

Here's another thought: care for the tires a bit better. Curbs potholes, speedbumps stuff like can damage the sidewall. I've had low profile tires on every car so far and never had a blowout

I agree with this. we can't really avoid some of it but just be cautious when you can

Hey, @BohemianRhapsody. Just wanna ask if you managed to switch up already? This has been a long time since your post and I'm worried about your mom not enjoying her car honestly. So expensive to commute nowadays.
