What happen with my USB port?

I use the USB port under the radio a lot, and last week it stopped working. I went to the dealer and replaced it with a new part, but when I got home, it stopped working again (you can see how annoying this is). Anyone can tell me what's going on here?

That's super annoying, sounds like it could be a fuse issue, wiring problem, or maybe your head unit needs a reset. Quick question, does it stop charging devices, playing audio, or both?

Since the shop put in a new USB port and it still stopped working, it probably means the problem isn't the port itself. it might be somewhere else before the port, like in the wires or the power source that feeds it. did you manage to resolve this already?

Chevrolet Malibu's port issues are pretty common, you're not the first one and the problem is not the port itself, it could be blown fuse, trapped moisture inside the port and even problems with the infotainment system module. it could also be software glitches so it would be a good idea to ask the dealer to check for software updates.

It sounds like the port is fine but something upstream is acting up. Try and go see if there's a short pulling that fuse every time.

Apart from wiring or a blown fuse upstream, could also be a shorted cable or device causing it to die, check the fuse box and wiring harness before swapping another part.
