Brake light issues

I've noticed that my 2007 Chevrolet Malibu LT's 3rd brake light seems to be staying on all the time, and i think it's slowly draining my battery. I'd like to disconnect it temporarily, but i'm not sure of the safest way to do it. Has anyone dealt with this before or can offer advice on how to disconnect the third brake light without causing other issues?

To disconnect the CHMSL, simply remove the fuse from the fuse box. It's typically marked as "stop lamp" or something similar. Don't worry, this won't interfere with the main brake lights or cause any other problems.

Try checking if the brake light switch under the pedal was sticking. Before pulling the light, try unplugging the switch to see if the light goes off. Just be sure your other brake lights still work so you stay safe and legal.
